Mr. Suhas Naik-Satam after completing his graduation course in Physics joined the Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Centre, Mumbai as Programme Coordinator (Scientific) in September 1985. He has been involved in the production of more than 20 planetarium sky-shows viz: Secret Life of Stars, When Galaxies Collides, and Autobiography of Universe, 20 Bright Stars, Stars in the Lime Light, Atoms to Stars, Hide & Seek in the Sky and Collision in Space. He has conducted Mini Planetarium (Planetarium on Wheel) Programmes consisting of slide talk, video show, exhibition and sky observation through telescope in villages and townships outside Mumbai (around 200 places). Mr.Naik-Satam has organised more than 200 topical public lectures on Astronomy and Space Science by eminent scientists from India and abroad and ten lecture courses on Astronomy and related subjects. Also, organization of 50 astro quiz contests, 20 essay elocutions, 25 astro-painting, and 20 poetry contests for school and college students at the planetarium goes to his credit. He arranged similar programmes in different schools and colleges in Mumbai. Mr. Naik-Satam was instrumental in the organizing of more than 100 educational workshops on science, mathematics and environment for Secondary School Students and 10 topical seminars for school teachers. He has given more than 200 lectures in various schools, colleges and institutions on different topics in Astronomy. He has participated in about 10 television programmes and has given 20 radio talks and has conducted 10 interviews on scientific aspects. Mr. Naik-Satam has been an organising committee member for 10 National seminars and 5 International conferences. He has co-edited three proceedings of the International Conferences for Science Communicators. In addition, he has co-authored two booklets on “What do you want to know about Comet?” and “Astronomy at your fingertips”.
