Can anyone tell me how to use Geogebra. I tried it . It seems to be able to draw some geometric diagrams. Are there any more features other than that ?

Seems good as far as drawing geometric figures are concerned.

Would love to pass it on to all our teachers using our tools globally.

Happy to join this group. Please accept me, and help me learn how to teach better.

I am particularly fascinated by FOSS for mathematics. There ais a huge amount

of free (gratis, libre) software for mathemticians. Some examples would be :

Scilab, Sage, PSPP, R, LaTeX. Would love to exchange notes with you all.

It seems to be a wonderful idea to learn new resources and use them with my students. Who says teaching is monotonous? Rather keeping the live wires (students) active and receptive is great fun.

Hello all,

It is nice to join this group of educationists interested in Technology 4 teaching.

I would like to invite you all to view my site at paperlesshomework.com
As the name suggests... it is about getting schools to go paperless in their homework assignments and thus going green. It is also about able to reach out to rural schools with good animated contents without the need for expensive broadband.

Our project helps to close the digital divides for the unconnected the world over.

In order to understand what we are doing and will be doing towards closing the
digital divides in developing countries. ...i.e the other 5.5 billion people
around the world, please read our powerpoint presentation here and after going
through it you would have a good idea what we are talking about.
http://www.paperlesshomework.com/ppt/AGE4telecenters2.ppt 1.6 mbyte no
voice over

or

download and play this with voice over.
http://www.paperlesshomework.com/ppt/AGEpowerpointvoice.zip about 37mbytes.
(you have to unzip the voice file to enable voice here)

Essentially it would explain how we can get the following, deemed impossible
using any tech available to do even one of the following in developing
countries(developed too) not to say 4 .

1. Enables entire country (rural and urban) to access digital contents
without expensive broadband
2. Empowers teachers from blackboard to digital enabled easily for entire
country.
3. By going paperless homework/textbooks... a greener country. 4. Lighter schoolbag - we use pen drives
5. Enable Ministry of Education to collate students' performance datafor entire country anytime. (You don't have to wait for year end examination results to know the progress of each student for the entire country. - Get it anytime)

Well isn't it wonderful if the Ministry or any educationist is able to monitor the performance of all students under their care constantly?

Regards
Alan

DEar friends,
Recently I attended ATCM 08 at Bangkok. Here is a software that I discovered in one of the presentations that may be useful in teaching and modeling:: it is called tracker and can be downloaded from: www.cabrillo.edu/~dbrown
