Hi all

I have been working in the domain of setting up math labs, both hands-on and software based math labs in schools since five years now. It will be an honor to connect with passionate educators like you to learn and know more about how to offer the best of practical experience to our students in mathematics. i would look forward to interacting with you here. you can find a bit more about our work in math labs here.

Hi all, I have some ideas on math lab. Well, we can create a math lab in a room with lots of interactive models, study aids, puzzle corner, and so on. Here I will share one math model which I like. It depicts the concept of surface of revolution and forms the bridge between the two dimensional curves and the three dimensional surface of revolution. We can have some simple curves made up is steel rods/ thick wires/ wood cutouts. This we have to mount is a vertical axis and by appropriate combination of spur gears and a handle arrangement, we can rotate the vertical axis; there by getting the surface of revolution of the curve. Semi circle will create a hemi- sphere; circle will create a sphere; ellipse will generate a ellipsoid and so on... It's fun....
